Mega Joker Slot Review
Can a madcap jester get you a jackpot? That’s the goal in Mega Joker, a 3 reel, 5 payline sot from NetEnt.
Styled like a classic live casino cabinet slot, it’s a veteran of the online casino world. Old it might be but Supermeter jackpots of 2,000 coins, progressive prizes plus an incredibly high RTP rate of 99% mean that it’s remained highly popular.

Mega Joker Details
The base game action in Mega Joker plays out on a simple 3 reel, 3 row, 5 payline machine. To create a winning combination, land 3 of the same matching symbol in one of those paylines.
There’s a second set of reels above the main set. This is the Supermeter which offers enhanced prizes when compared to base game play. This is also a 3 reel, 5 payline machine with winners formed by landing 3 standard symbols in a line. You can also land Mystery Joker prizes here which we’ll look at more closely below.
You can play Mega Joker at bet levels of $1, $2 and $10. Click on the coins in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen to adjust.
The Mega Joker RTP is an extremely high 99%, which makes it one of the slots with highest RTP in the US.
It’s worth noting though that 3% of each spin is added to the progressive jackpot prize pool.
The volatility here is high so tread carefully.

Mega Joker Bonus Features
At first glance, Mega Joker looks like a rather ordinary fruit machine. There’s a bit more going on here than you might expect though courtesy of the Supermeter which can deliver some potentially large rewards.
Supermeter
Each time you land a winning combination, you’ll be offered a choice. You can collect your win or instead have a go on the Supermeter reels above the main set which offer potentially much bigger rewards for landing the same winning combination in the base game.
If you opt to play the Supermeter, click on the Bet button next to the spin button. This will take you around 4 different bet levels – 20, 40, 100 or 200 coins per spin. The rewards vary depending on your stake level.
For example, if you were playing the Supermeter at bet levels of 20 coins per spin and a trio of 7s in a line, you’d receive a payout of 800 coins. The same combination and the 40-coin stake deliver an award of some 2,000 coins.
You can collect the balance of your stake if you have any funds left from the Supermeter. If you run out of funds for the Supermeter, you’ll return to the standard base game action which is played on the reels at the bottom of the screen.
There’s an optimal staking plan for play in Supermeter mode which you can find by opening up the paytable.
Supermeter Joker Wins
Jokers that land during Supermeter mode can deliver some special prizes. Once again, the awards vary depending on the Supermeter stake level.
At 20 coins, 3 Jokers in a payline awards a 1,000-coin Mystery Win.
At 40, 100 or 200 coins, 3 jokers in a payline awards a 2,000-coin Mystery Win.
At 100 coins, a single Joker on the middle reel pays between 100 and 2,000 coins.
At 200 coins, any Joker anywhere on the reels pays between 100 and 2,000 coins.
Progressive Jackpots
Mega Joker is a progressive jackpot slot. The big prize can trigger at random on any base game spin.

Design, Theme and Visuals of Mega Joker
It can take a little while to get used to the design and gameplay in Mega Joker. The reels are set within a classic cabinet slot at the bottom of the screen. Above them are the Supermeter reels.
You’ll see the paytable for both base game and Supermeter play alongside the reels which can feel rather small and a little cluttered.
On the reels, you’ll find some classic fruit machine imagery. In order of value, the symbols include cherries, lemons, melons, bells and treasure chests. Joining the mix in Supermeter mode are oranges, grapes and lucky 7s. There’s also a Joker.
There’s not much in the way of a soundtrack here other than the thud of the reels as the symbols drop into position.
It’s all rather retro but decent enough.
Mega Joker Advantages and Disadvantages
- Classic fruit machine action
- Progressive jackpot prizes
- Big rewards potential in the Supermeter
- Visuals are a bit confusing
Mega Joker Alternatives
If you like fruit machines with more in the way of features, try Juicy Fruits from Pragmatic Play that comes with colossal wild blocks, free spins with roaming wilds and an ante bet that doubles your chances of landing the free spins.
If you like retro fruit machines, Novomatic’s Reel King is one to consider. Simply designed, it features an unusual bonus round which are played on sets of mini reels which appear in the Reel King’s portly belly. There’s also a Megaways version if you prefer something a bit more modern.
Mega Joker isn’t NetEnt’s only venture into the world of old school fruit machines. They’re recently released the volatile Fruit Blaze which combines classic imagery with nifty features including multiplier wilds, gamble bonuses and a free spins feature.
